Many parents will stress over what to wear, should we match, my kid doesn't like photos (neither does my husband). Well, I'm here to tell you that I got you. There are no expectations or judgements. Just come as yourself and the rest will flow organically.
I've put together a few items to keep in mind which could help you prepare for your photoshoot.
- Dress in clothes that make you feel good and comfortable
- Dress in solid colours and which compliment the rest of your family. You don't need to match just compliment i.e. Greys/Blacks/Whites....or Nudes/Greens/Greys.... or Maroon/Kakhis/Jeans/Sage and so on
- If your shoot includes kids - ensure that they are fed (including yourself) and bring snacks and drinks with you to the shoot.
- Make sure to have them go to the bathroom before the shoot
- Don't worry about the kids laughing. If they are having a bad day I will try to bring it out. If it doesn't that's ok... :) My shoots include people not looking directly to the camera that's ok. We're not going to force the smile out of them. I want them to feel comfortable.
- Please bring a throw... Grey/Nude/ Blue/Black depending on what you're wearing.
- The location will be selected by me depending on me (i.e Conservation parks, forests, city)
- I will be directing the shoot; don't you worry I got you!
- Have your hair and nails tidy. Put lotion on your skin - dry skin shows believe it or not.
- Bring lipgloss and / lipstick to soften your lips
- Bring extra jackets maybe hats to add a little wardrobe change during the shoot.
- Bring books or fav toys of the kids.
- Have a talk prior to the photoshoot with the kiddos so that they know what to expect.
- Golden hour - the kids do great during this time. If you're open to shooting an hr before sunset ....it makes great shots!! kids will be ok just bring snacks and make sure they have their dinner.
- Please please please arrive to the shoot 15 mins before the set time
Best of all relax - enjoy the process.
Karen
